Grammar

  1. N を V (transitive)
    • This structure is used to indicate that an action is performed on an object. The particle を is attached to the object of the action.
    • Example:
      • ごはんを食べます。 (ごはんをたべます。) - I eat a meal.
      • 映画を見ます。 (えいがをみます。) - I watch a movie.
  2. N をします (to do ~)
    • This structure is used to indicate that an action is performed on an object, often used with activities or sports.
    • Example:
      • テニスをします。 (テニスをします。) - I play tennis.
      • 宿題をします。 (しゅくだいをします。) - I do homework.
  3. 何をしますか (What do you do?)
    • This question structure is used to ask about the action performed on an object.
    • Example:
      • 今何をしますか。 (いまなにをしますか。) - What do you do now?
      • 週末に何をしますか。 (しゅうまつになにをしますか。) - What do you do on weekends?
  4. なん and なに
    • なん is used before counters and certain particles, while なに is used in other contexts.
    • Example:
      • 何人ですか。 (なんにんですか。) - How many people?
      • 何を食べますか。 (なにをたべますか。) - What do you eat?  
  5. N (place) で V
    • This structure is used to indicate the place where an action takes place. The particle で is attached to the location.
    • Example:
      • 公園で遊びます。 (こうえんであそびます。) - I play in the park.
      • レストランで食べます。 (レストランでたべます。) - I eat at the restaurant.
  6. V ませんか (Won’t you ~?)
    • This structure is used to make invitations or suggestions.
    • Example:
      • 一緒に映画を見ませんか。 (いっしょにえいがをみませんか。) - Won’t you watch a movie together?
      • 公園で遊びませんか。 (こうえんであそびませんか。) - Won’t you play in the park?
  7. V ましょう (Let’s ~)
    • This structure is used to make suggestions or proposals to do something together.
    • Example:
      • 映画を見ましょう。 (えいがをみましょう。) - Let’s watch a movie.
      • 公園で遊びましょう。 (こうえんであそびましょう。) - Let’s play in the park.
  8. 〜か indicates that listener has received a new information (same as in そうですか).
    • Example:
      • A: 明日映画を見ます。 (あしたえいがをみます。) - I will watch a movie tomorrow.
      • B: 映画を見ますか。どう? (えいがをみますか。) - You will watch a movie? How about it?
