V [dictionary form] ～ために (for the purpose of ~; in order to ~). Example:
勉強するために図書館へ行きます。
I go to the library in order to study.
N のために (for the sake of ~; for ~)
Example:

I work for the sake of my children.
Pattern using ～のに is also to indicate purpose, but it is used with certain words like 使います (use), 必要です (need), いいです (it is good), 役に立つ (be useful), かかる (take [time/money]), etc.
