1. The pattern ～場合は (ばあいは) is used to express “in case of ~” or “if ~”. It is often used in formal contexts, such as instructions, manuals, and announcements.

   • Verb dictionary form + 場合は
     Example:
     道に迷った場合は、警察に連絡してください。
     みちにまよったばあいは、けいさつにれんらくしてください。
     In case you get lost, please contact the police.

   • い-adjective + 場合は
     Example:
     天気が悪い場合は、試合は中止になります。
     てんきがわるいばあいは、しあいはちゅうしになります。
     In case the weather is bad, the game will be cancelled.

   • な-adjective + な + 場合は
     Example:
     静かな場合は、図書館で勉強できます。
     しずかなばあいは、としょかんでべんきょうできます。
     In case it is quiet, you can study in the library.

   • Noun + の + 場合は
     Example:
     緊急の場合は、この番号に電話してください。
     きんきゅうのばあいは、このばんごうにでんわしてください。
     In case of emergency, please call this number.

   • Verb た-form + 場合は
     Example:
     予約した場合は、10分前に来てください。
     よやくしたばあいは、10ぷんまえにきてください。
     In case you have a reservation, please come 10 minutes early.

   • Verb ない-form + 場合は
     Example: 財布を忘れない場合は、問題ありません。
     さいふをわすれないばあいは、もんだいありません。
     In case you do not forget your wallet, there is no problem.

   • This structure is used to express “even though ~” or “despite ~”. It indicates a contrast between two clauses, where the first clause presents a situation or condition, and the second clause presents an unexpected result or action.

   • Example:

     • 雨が降っているのに、彼は傘を持っていません。
       あめがふっているのに、かれはかさをもっていません。
       Even though it is raining, he does not have an umbrella.
     • 彼女は忙しいのに、手伝ってくれました。
       かのじょはいそがしいのに、てつだってくれました。
       Even though she is busy, she helped me.

Note:
The different between 〜のに and 〜が/でも　is that 〜のに emphasizes the contrast between the two clauses, while 〜が/でも simply presents two contrasting ideas without emphasizing the unexpected nature of the second clause.
